Cory,
In my 5 gallon minibow, I have a 25 watt heater. I haven't noticed any big temp changes (I use screw in CF's instead of incandescent) and an internal filter, and things stay nice and steady. I like to have the heater, because the house temp drops down to 60 or so at night. *shivers* Too cold for me, much less my fishies!

I should clarify that part of what led to the rise in heat within the Eclipse three was that the filter housing sat partially in the water. This thing generated a small amount of heat and kept the water around 76F with the light off. It too had a flourescent light and I didn't expect it to give off heat, but maybe it came from the light fixture. By opening the small lid a crack, the heat would dissipate and the water temp would go down a few degrees. I hated this.

At my store, we made a package out of the Mini-bow 7, and we put a 25 watt heater on it. Since it has flourescent lighting on it, the lights will not be as hot as the incandescent lights, so heat should not be a problem with a 25 watt heater.

I too considered making a nano-tank out of it, but the tank is so expencive for the size (but the bow fronts will do that. Usually the price of the bow fronts are about double the price of a similar sized standard tank.
