Aphyosemion australe is it? | |
dukydaf Fingerling Posts: 34 Registered: 02-May-2004 | I just bought a pair of this but on the aquarium there was written -"- gardneri. I don't belive it is gardneri but just to be sure. [URL]http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/dukydaf/2-6-200612-09-43PM_0010.jpg[/URL] Is the feamle the good one or another specie( i know they're hard to distinguis) Would they be ok for about 5 days in my community/planted 62.5g aquarium. Can I teach them how to eat flakes? Any other tips will be aprecieted. |

To me, yours DO look like Aphyosemion australe, and for comparison here is Aphyosemion australe. These fishes tend to like soft, slightly acidic water, generally need regular live feedings to stay in good condition, and are fairly fussy about their surroundings. If you're setting up a species aquarium for them, then they might be OK in a community setup till it's up and running, but I can't think of many people who would regard Aphyosemion species as 'community fishes' in the conventional sense. |
