He said he'd only had 2 fish deaths and had bns and angels breeding in his tank. tank setup for just over a year. He didnt test any water parameters(has no test kits) when cycling was told by the shop to add 6 fish then stock slowly. I was impressed, so asked some questions: on stocking? medium stock level. Water changes? (when the water looks a bit dirty, which is 3-4 weeks @ 30%). Dechlor or aged water? Just stick the hose in and fill er up??!! Cold water mind you, no temp matching. Filter? submersible sponge filter. Hes in the same area as me so i know there is about .2ppm chlorine but no chloramines(smells of chlorine big time when u open the tap). Some people have all the luck?! I told him the fish might not die but chlorine could be stressing them out. Maybe a bit of chlorine every month keeps the diseases down ![]() Ive got 2 filters one a good canister filter, test kits comin out the wazoo, medications in abundance, did fishless cycling , weekly water changes etc, read all the fish forums and still lost a lot of fish over 18 months. Arrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhh There is no justice |

If theres one thing I've learned here it's that...some people "believe" and say anything. Personally I'd never go that route. I keep test kits handy even if I don't test every week. Do water changes not by looks but on schedule, take time to acclimate and I always use dechlor. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe" ![]() |

As with most things taking the time to do it right the first time means not having to do it again later or being sorry for the final outcome. ![]() ![]() |

EDIT: Oh, I see...tap water. Never mind then. I, like babel, doubt this is true. Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 23-Mar-2005 15:41 |
