I am thinking of buying a new aquarium book.

In your opinions, what is the best freshwater aquarium book?

My favorite book is:

AN ILLUSTRATED ENCYLOPEDIA OF AQURIUM FISH by Gina Sandford

Which is a comprehensive directory of exoctic freshwater and marine species.

All pictures are in glossy colour and gives information on each fish in regards to
Family:
Common Name:
Origion:
Size:
Food:
Temeperature Range:
pH level:
Breeding Techniques:
Preferred Tank Setup:

A great book, my bible really. I also have Dr Axelrod Atlas of Freshwater Aquarium Fishes. Over 7800 pics with similar info to above book but info is in icon form and not written form.

Two great books.

However I'm looking for a book on Aquarium design with plenty of pic's so if you know of one please let me know!

Also I notice that this site is running some sort of aquarium landscape contest. I would like to see all the entries. Will we be able to see them?

PS

Hey aren't you Troy McLure from such cartoons as the simpsons!!!

I've got The Illutrated...... By Sandford and it's a great book. ISBN 0-87605-947-7 makes for easier ordering. I also like Aquarium Fishes Of The World by Axelrod, Burgess, ek, Axelrod & Boruchowitz. ISBN 0-7938-0493-0

Have Fun, Mike

Those are good suggestions above. If you're interested in ideas for aquascaping, I enjoyed Aquarium Designs Inspired by Nature by Peter Hiscock. It has some interesting biotope-inspired designs that got me thinking about how fish relate to their natural environments. It also has some nice photography.

Absolutely nothing beats the Baensch Atlases IMO. There's just no other book ATM that's as incredibly stuffed with information. Volume one has almost every species you'll want info on, and volumes 2-5 (only 2 and 3 are translated into English yet) fill in with recent finds. Absolutely wonderful books - and then of course there's the cichlid atlas, the marine atlas, the photo guide, etc.

The Baensch atlas' are great books with all of the information you could think of. The only drawback I feel is that the genus' are all split over the three books which can make it a little irritating sometimes.
Anyone know when 4+5 are being translated?
