Are these two fish meant to go together. Its a Bolivian Ram and a Blue Gourami. The Ram keeps nipping at the gourami. Luckily there hasnt been any damage from what I can tell but then again its only been a couple of hours. Should I return the blue gourami? is there a way to stop them from fighting. Any help welcome thanks oh and its a 55 gallon tank with 10 tetras 6 cories and 4 ghost shrimp.

I have 2 Bolivian Rams and 2 pearl gouramis and a dwarf gourami. If the gouramis go into the rams territory the rams push the gouramis out with "lippy" nips and chasing. Its normal for the rams to defend their territory, or for a gourami to defend their territory as well.

I'll trade you 2 gouramis for your ram. They are both full grown. Just an offer.

My German blue rams don't like my dwarf gourami very much, but then that's because the gourami likes their eggs a little too much. The only time the gourami really fights back is when a ram gets a little too intent on ramming into him, but when he does fight back, the rams have to run!

Fortunately all of these battles are basically bloodless.
