I am considering getting a bumblebee goby. I have all the angles worked out, and they're all fine, except for one thing, I've found that they are best kept when fed live food, and not only that, but they will not eat flake food. Is there anything else I could feed them? I don't even know what kind of live food I could get for them to eat, much less how I could get it, so, any information on live or non-alive food would be helpful. Thanks.

Yeah, pretty much all sites say that bumblebee gobies will only accept live or frozen food...I guess frozen food counts as non-alive
and freeze-dried food is different from frozen

Glad you're doing your research

Mine have never eaten flake. Other than live foods my bumblebees will accept frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms, and tubifex.

They're cool little fish.

And just in case you didn't know, they are brackish fish.

They don't do well at all in pure freshwater.

ok, well, perhaps I'll look into this frozen thing, but what about freeze dried? I take it they wont eat that either? Now, Cory addict mentioned that tehy are brackish. I was told they are a stream type fish. Does this mean they need something I'm not aware of? I know they prefer some salt in the H2O, is that what you mean? or were you getting at something else?

My bumblebee gobies eat frozen foods and grandular sinking foods (TetraCichlid Mini Granules). They have been doing fine on these items for a year now. Also, I keep a trio of guppies in their tank. All the guppy fry seem to disappear. Maybe they are getting some live food.

Yes, brackish means that there is salt in the water, making the SG 0.008-0.015. Bumble bee gobies should be fine with a SG of 0.010.

I've had no luck with freeze-dried food either. Most lcs do carry frozen foods.
