Buying Fish: | |
Nyteflame Fingerling Posts: 38 Kudos: 17 Registered: 22-May-2006 | *sigh* all three LFS in my area are bad now. I was just in the last one that I considered decent the other day, and there were dead fish everywhere. I wasn't really looking for more fish, I was more interested in what kinds of invertabretes they had. Just the same, I would be afraid to buy the backbone-less critters at any of these places, because I worry that they could carry a fishie disease home with them. These are all big stores, two are popular chain stores, and one is the biggest fish store in PA. How do you all find your fish stores? Maybe there are some more, and I just don't know how to look for them... |

Sometimes I'll also try looking online as well (there was some website I remember where you could rate and comment about fish stores, but I can't remember the name). If there really aren't any good fish stores around you, you might consider ordering fish online if there's something that you really want. With the shipping it will be more expensive than getting them locally, but the quality is usually much better. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

It doesn't list much near me, probably because the one BIG store over shadows the rest (You can't beat them in selection and supplies, but their fish are almost always sick.) Nat, why didn't I think of looking in the phone book? I will go do that now. |

I know that there are a few stores in my area that aren't listed, and most chain stores aren't represented on that. However, it does have quite a few good stores listed in my area. I'm sure there are more similar sites around... ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

That makes me so upset when I see that. I feel for you. Removing dead fish and rotting plants is a MUST.... imagine owning a pet shop and not providing clean water in the cages for birds/mammals/reptiles.... one just wouldn't neglect such a thing but fish miss out .... ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
