My LFS doesn't carry the greatest variety of fish, and I am currently looking for a sparkling gourami. LiveAquaria has them, but I have to spend 30 bucks for them to ship something. I looked at Fish2U and aquaruimfish.net, but they don't have them.

Does anyone else know any good online sites?

You'll find that most online, mail-order fish places are going to charge a lot for shipping. This usually makes online fish orders only cost effective if you are buying multiple fish.

However - for people looking for rare or a specific "quality" dealer (i.e. reputable), then it can be worth it. After all, the value is what you perceive it as, right?

You could try AquariumFish as I think their shipping is around $25, regardless of order size.

Some people here have gotten small number and individual fish from http://www.aquabid.com, but shipping will vary depending on the seller.

There's a large list of online retailers here. They're primarly cichlid-oriented, but there are a few that specialize in other types of fish. This list has reviews from buyers, which I find helpful in some cases:

I've found a few LFS's in my area this way, which prior to that I didn't know even existed.

I bought mine from LiveAquaria, but they were a last minute impulse buy since I was already buying a bunch of other fish and paying for shipping. At that time I couldn't find them in any lfs. Now I've seen them at two stores, and surprisingly the PetSmart near me had croaking gouramis in stock.

AquariumStuffers.com has them but it looks like they charge $40 for shipping. No minimum order though. I've never purchased from them either, just browsed their site.

Is there a lfs that would order them for you? I know a lot of people do that, and it might be worth a try.

Theresa, I've tried ordering other fish from my LFS, but they never did anything about it. Not very helpful...so its not going to happen. Ack, $40 for shipping? Hmm....I'm going to do a search throughout Manhattan, chain stores and all!
