When I did it, I was a newbie and nobody at the pet store mentioned the fishless cycle...now I know better thanks to this group. Thankfully, I did not lose any fish due to cycling. Enjoy!

I had a 29 gal tank and recently got this 72 gal bow front. I usually add my water conditioner,or my preferred starter liquid. Wait a few days and add my fish. I've never had any trouble. Maybe LUCK??? I've NEVER tested my water. I now think it might be an awful thing. Does anyone know where to buy the best water test kits? :%)

I test at home for pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates. And there are a list of other things to test for, but I am not quite there yet. I just use individual test kits I got at a major chain pet store, but you could probably find some nice all in one kits online. Good luck.

Everything is half the price of what you find in stores. If you can, find "aquarium pharm master test kit." It has everything you need except nitrate. (Just buy an additional nitrate test kit.)
