13"L x 11.25"W x 15.5"H

Can someone calculate it real quick?

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Surface area is width times length. Your tank is 146.25 square inches.

It's also a very small tank...:%)

Im asking for surface area, ive checked the FP calcs and did not see one for SA.

Edit: Thanks Shinigami, does the fact that its a hex tank make a difference? This is what had me a bit confused.

Heh, you should have told me that, I gave you the area if it were rectangular...:%) Argh, I'm bad in geometry, I forget how to calculate area of a hexagon...

Since it is a hexagon, to calculate the area, break the shape up into two triangles and a rectangle. Give me the measurements of those three shapes, then I can give you the area.

this is from this site
[hrefhttp://www.adelaideaquariums.com.au/faqs/articles/volumecalc.html#anchor1214504[/href]

Do not confuse hexagonal tanks (which are fairly rare) with octagonals (which are more common). A hexagonal tank has six sides (as per the diagram below) while the octagonal has eight.
To determine the surface area of a hexagonal tank you need to know its length (L), its width (W), and the length of the front pane (X).

Calculation form

The formula for surface area is then:

Area = 0.5(W.L + W.X)

ie: Multiply the width of the tank by its length and record the answer. Multiply the width of the tank by the length of the front pane and add this to the first number. Divide by two to get the surface area.

135=(11.25*13 + 11.25*11)

So, i have 135in of surface area. What does that mean in regards to stocking.

Um, fish1, what Shini said is for a rectangular tank. The formula for the surface area of a hexagon is different. I don't know it, so I'll let someone else answer what it really is. :%)

EDIT: Nevermind.... it seems I'm too late in posting. :%)

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.
