Can anyone help.I have been tring to get rid of green water for to long now .Water changes every second day no more light for many weeks now and nothing is working.I have reading about algone and sounds ok but scary to buy when you have not heard about before.

I had also read about this stuff call barley straw pellets for ponds. It says it will take away green water.I know its for ponds but would it work the same for fish tanks.

lol I need help.

Since you've already taken so many steps, I would start to believe that phosphate in your water is the problem. I believe Algone is a phosphate remover, but there are better options.

I'd look for a product called PhosBan. Supposed to work quite well, and if phosphate is the problem it will clear up shortly after adding it.

well, are you sure that it is the water? because one day my tank got very green and i thought it was the water but it turned out to be fungus on the glass. (it wasn't my fault, i went on holidays and my bro was awful with the tank) So, just make sure that it is not the glass and is the water. If it is, then use a magnetic brush. But if it is the water, i have no cure.

By no more light do you mean that you have covered the tank completely, or just that you havent been turning on the aquarium lights. When i had an algea bloom, i covered my ten gallon with a heavy blanket so that not even a pinhole of light could get in. Four days later when I removed the cover,...no more green water.
