Any ideas?

I've a few danios in the 4' planted tank I'd like to move, but I don't think I have very good chances of catching them, as there are loads of plants and I aint ripping the tank up just to catch them!

Are there any super-top-tips on how I might net them? Or shouldn't I waste my time

How about holding a net in there and then sprinkling food in to tempt them or something? I do have a large net thing for holding my sons' bath toys in. Maybe some kind of drag net catch??!

You could use food, or you could try this trick that I saw in a store: When the danios are hiding in the plants, place your net near them, where you think they might swim (out of the tangle of plants). Then, scare them out of the plants, and they will swim into the net in their hurry to get away. This may take several tries, but it seems like it works. Or, just wait until they're asleep. If danios sleep, that is...

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I use two nets....like a round up I use a little net to do the rounding up and a larger net that I hold still and do the netting with. Works pretty good. But I must admit...those babies are fast.

I used songbird's 2 net method as well when rounding up my danios. It is best way I know, and I've tried many different things.

I'm anticipating them diving down under the nets onto the bottom of the tank/amongst the plants - what about the night time sleeping method? Do I try and get them while the tank lights are off and the room has been in darkness, put a room light on and spring it on 'em? Will they be in a semi-dazed state like the neons?

Have you fought about just chasing them for a while until they get tired? Thats what i did for the danios I had in my 55g! Took a while but they were all fine. Also you could put food in the net and lower it so they can swim into the net and when they swim in pull the net out quick and you have the fish in the net

Well by jiminy I've done it, and it only took minutes!

Thought I'd give it a go, and simply put the net in the filter current.. as they are always swimming up and down it, they inevitably and helpfully swam right into the net one by one! The last I had to entice with food, but once a little was put in the net it overcame its shyness and dove straight in

I thought it would be a right carry on!

You must have the magic touch then because I have been trying for the last 1 hour to get out the stupid dannios and have caught all but two of them. Talk about frustrating! I will NEVER get these again!
Just thought I would vent and now I'm better

When I gave my 7 zebra danio to my friend I had a nightmare catching them. The first four was easy the next three really hard. I tried the food thing, two nets and etc. Then I remember they school/shoal when in danger so I put the four I had caught in floating live bearer breeding trap(one of those plastic see through one). The last three we trying to school with the four in the trap and I easy netted them as they were reluctant to break school.

Danios are very hard to catch. What works for them is the same trick I learned for specific feeder goldfish. Have the net in the tank, and when they've slowed down, you can catch them, scooping up from underneath lighting quick so as to surprise them.

The easiest time I ever caught a zebra danio was when the power went out at work. The fish took a little longer than I did to react to that so I just scooped him right out.

A two net manuver is what I do to catch tets and other fast, smaller fish.

A two net manuver is probably the best put some people have recommended sitting the net in the tank and letting the fish "get used to it" and then try to catch them. Never tried it cause i havent had the time, some have had luck with it some have not.

You should always use two nets to catch a fish. The longer you attempt to catch it the more stressed it gets
