I was wondering if anyone could share any personal experience with these fish? I am planning on putting on in my seasonal pond.

perfect, my favorite fish in the world.

truely a shame not kept so often, but probably for the best as they are kinda endangered.

n.e way. the high fin loach (as i call them)

history: i have had many over the years, and love them. they are massive. they will go through 3 different phases during their life time. and when they are massive 40 + inch adults they look really nothing like their young stage. very dark, long, and short fins.

care: they do better in coldwater, but can handle warm water. an excellent filter is needed, and well oxygenated water.

they aren't picky at food, i never had one outside, i tank raised all of mines, and they took pellets, never really saw one eat algae.

tankbuster: again a massive pond would be needed as these guys are massive tankbusters.

i wish you the best of luck, i truely call this fish my number one favorite.

Yeah, I cannot wait, I have two order from one of the LFS and they come in at around 4". They both will be going in the pond for spring to fall. What would you estimate their growth rate be.

well at lfs they are going to be expensive, some at that size are around 60-90 usd each, online would be best for cheaper, but i think they have a slower growth rate, but remeber i raised mines inside, so out side it is going to be different, probably faster.

For a 4" one here it is 25$ Canadian. What did you find their behavior to be like?

wow that is cheap. great deal.

um, they are really shy at first, but after hours of being gentle with them, they will become very playful.
