I am running a standard 4 footer (48 inches(L) x 18(H) x 14(W). Water temp is steady at 25-26c and is cycled. I currently have 2 bala sharks, 1 salmontail catfish and 6 red eyed tetras calling the tank home and want to get some more fish. I am eyeing a few angels but im not sure if they are compatible with the fish i already have. Any suggestions would be great. If you need anymore info on my tank just ask. I really want to get some coulour into the tank also. Thanks... |

Hmm, i am planning to get a bigger tank later on but for now i just want a nice coulourful community tank. The salmontail is around 4 inches (around 10cm) and is fairly young. The balas seem to enjoy the tank and have made a home inside one of my wrecked ships, they to are fairly small (6-7cm) and the much smaller red eyed tetras dont seem to mind the company of 3 much larger fish... |

They will require a 90 gallon tank with at least 5 feet of length, preferably 6. The salmontail catfish will probably outgrow that tank in less than a year. 80 cm = 32 inches, just in case you didnt know. (Im bad with cm myself!). There are lots of smaller catfish that would suit your tank well, raphaels, corys, pictus, etc. Try to find one that is better suited to life in your tank! I dont know about the comment about Angels being just "swimming triangles", my angels are gorgeous, and are actually diamond shaped not triangular. I love angels and say you cant go wrong with 1 or 2. You could add another small school of some type- tetras, white clouds, rainbowfish, etc. I wouldnt add a peacock eel, it will eat any small fish you have when it gets large. I think that you'll better get another Tetra school. ![]() http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |
