	Convict tank mates
Markus Hobbyist Posts: 67 Kudos: 12 Votes: 0 Registered: 30-Jun-2003	My Friend has a 25 gallon tank set up with three Convict cichlids, and is wondering what else to put in, He was thinking about adding the following: 3 Ottocinclus Algae eaters 6 Corycats 6 Glass Tetras Any opinions on that combo or other fish to put in, the only thing is he wants to keep it south american. Any help would be appreciated.

Stella Big Fish Posts: 387 Kudos: 974 Votes: 16 Registered: 23-Feb-2003	I wouldn't add any of the fish that you have suggested - IME convicts were extremly aggressive and will kill any of those fish. I think that the 25 gallon will be too small for the convicts in the long run without adding anything else to the tank. I would say that you are completely stocked if not overstocked. HTH, Stella

Convicts breed very easily and when they do they get even more aggresive then they already are, and in a 25g there would not be enough room for tankmates to escape. Thats how I see it, so no tankmates. And as for the 'South American only tank'- convicts are Central American- as siluriformes pointed out.
