	Do fish shed?
Dolf Enthusiast Posts: 203 Kudos: 180 Votes: 46 Registered: 09-May-2004	When I vacuum my tank I occasionally see what looks like sparkling flakes coming up out of the gravel. I thought if was something coming out of the gravel or off the lace rock. Then this weekend, when I'm washing and brushing the dogs, I come up with a hairball big enough to make another dog. It gets me to wondering if fish shed also.

If the things you're seeing are really scales, then maybe you've got some aggression in your tank. Who knows? And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Gourami Mega Fish Posts: 1205 Kudos: 477 Votes: 1 Registered: 23-Apr-2002	I dont think they shed there scales on a regular bases like say a lizard would. I do think there scales fall off every once in awhile, especially when there is a tuffle or they bump against something too hard. I have found a few scales here and there my self.
