i think lake tanganykian eels, fire eels, spiny eels, some track eels, are solo fresh water.

morays i think are better in brackish,(given the type)

as well as their are solo sw eels.

There are freshwater eels, but few are true eels, such as the Spiny Eel and its relatives; if you're simply looking for the Eel body form, the Spiny Eels should serve quite well. Most true eels in the trade are Moray Eels, and the bulk of these are marine, with very few brackish and freshwater species. A certain member here owned one of the actual freshwater species, but this species is quite rare in the hobby; most morays sold as "freshwater" are in fact brackish.

We have a peacock eel. He is beautiful. About 7" long now. Only problem is that he is VERY shy and we only get sight of him about once a week while he stalks ghost shrimp.

Some eels do okay in freashwater when they are young, but even just a little bit of salt is much better for it. Point is, they are brackish.
