I would just leave him and not worry about it. BGKs (and most aquarium fish) can go well over a week without food without any problems.

If you're really worried about it, you could have someone come over and feed him halfway through the week, but I wouldn't leave extra feeders swimming around in the tank due to the possibility of them spreading some sort of illness.

My fishes gone 9 days without food when I was on vacation. All of them were doing fine. One week should not be a big deal. Just feed them well before you go.

Hmmm, if your BGK was going to eat smaller fishes, it probably would've eaten them already. Generally a fish will not wait until its "hungry" before eating; this is natural, as in the wild a fish does not know when its next meal will be.

When you say vacation feeders, you mean those white blocks? I'm surprised any fish eat those, honestly...

However, I'm surprised that your BGK does not eat other processed foods such as shrimp pellets, algae wafers, or fish flakes; in the past, I have had BGKs accept all of these. BGKs are not naturally piscivorous, so I would try to cut down on the amount of fish that it eats. Brine shrimp also contain very little nutrients unless they are fortified (which they generally aren't unless you do it yourself), and are basically swimming exoskeleton. Daphnia and worms would be preferable food choices. Just throwing this out there for once you get back from your trip.

Ditch the vacation feeders. All they are good for is feeding snails. They also have a high chance of either polluting your tank or if you have softer water raising the ph. In high ph water they just won't break down fast enough to provide any food. In my liquid rock water without the snails to eat the blocks a weekend feeder would still be completely solid a week later.

Feed them good before you leave and they should all do fine. I'd give them some good frozen food which is most anything besides brine shrimp. In my freezer I have squid for larger fish, mosquito larvae, bloodworms, glassworms, daphnia, and premixed blocks with various ingredients already combined together including one based on vegetables and marine algae.
