Can you feed beta food to tropical fish? An does this have any benefits or draw backs?

I used to have a betta, and I ahd special food for him. When I moved him into my 10 gallon. I finished off the betta food and fed it to the community for bout a week. There was no change at all in the other fish. (Swords, mollies, neon tetras) But then again, my fish aren't all that tropical.

betta food will more than likely be higher in protien than standard tropical foods.
Keep this in mind and supplement the diet withplenty of algae bits or veggie matter.

that being said, i feed betta food.

It doesn't hurt any, as long as you feed other types of food as well. Of course, that is with any food, not just betta food.

What about if you were feeding some of it to gourami?

I suppose it's ok though.

fish will eat about anything, and i have always had betta food as part of my feeding routine. along swith flakes and worms. the fish seem to like it and i highly doubt it hurts them. the only reason i do this is becuase i had a betta in my tank and fed him "his" food, and all the other fish at that and he wwent after the flakes.... go figure
