I have a freshwater veil tail angel that has lost about 1/3 of it's tail to an infection. Will it grow back?

Thanks!

So funny this fish bullys another Angel in the tank. It was near death with this massive infection, now it has only about 1/2 it's tail and it's eating and bullying the other angel again.

Keep the water clear as possible for the next couple months (low nitrates), feed it a greater variety of protein foods including live if possible. Also recommend Melafix for the next week. You MIGHT get the colors back too, sometimes, sometimes not. Good luck !

DaFishMan,

Thanks for the tip. Do you know if I can use Melafix while dosing Furan-2?

you should be able to, but it's always best not to mix medications, i don't care what they say on the box.

look to be waiting aboug 6-8 weeks for a good comeback.

Tim (Fallout) makes a good point.. Just because it says on the box that you can, we don't just immediately do it.
Always question yourself before adding a chemical to your water.

Are you dosing the Furan II to combat the infection ?
Is it helping ? What disease does it have, do you know for sure ?

Maybe some more details or a pic link to help identify what your fish actually has. I have used Furan 2 before and it's a rather harsh med to be using so make sure it treats what your fish has. How long have you been dosing the med ?

Here's a pic of the fish

That upper part of the tail has basically fallen off.
I just dosed Furan-2 once at half strength yesterday.

I don't have a hosiptal tank so I'm concerned about fish and plants.
