My 29 gallon tank has been up for a few months now, and I'm nearing completion stocking-wise. I have one bristlenose, one German ram (I plan to add another soon), and seven lemon tetras. I want to add another school/shoal of fish, but there are so many that appeal to me. I would like the tank to stay completely South American, so cyprinids are out. I don't care for them much anyways. I would prefer to have a shoal of cories, but I like the flame, silvertip, and rummynose tetras. As for cories though, I like them all. Does anyone have any ideas on what would go well with my current fish, and look good as too?

Well...personally, I think rummies are very pretty. I like harlies too.

If I were you, I'd go with a cory school to fill out the bottom of your tank. You already have the tetras to fill out the middle, and the ram as your centerpiece. The BN pleco is a bottom dweller, but he's just an algae guy. The cories will keep the bottom of the tank nice and clean, plus, who can resist cories?!

I *think* if you can find them, honeycomb cories would be a great choice. I'm not sure how big they get though...that will have to be googled. They have an AWESOME pattern, and the yellow in them combined with the yellow of the lemon tetras might look nice...if you don't mind having that much yellow. Of course...I have to say Pandas as another option...because they just rock.

HTH...

i would say get 6 pygmy corys and the depending on how much you like them, you could add 2 more, or 2 more lemons or something... then your rams might get lost in the big school of lemons though haha

OK, I'll bite ... Honeycomb cory? I've heard of the Honeycomb tatia but I'm not aware of a cory that goes by that common name and a google search didn't pull anything up. What's the species name?

Sirbrooks, I'd suggest something for the top of the tank. How about a school of Hatchet fish. I like the marble variety myself. Nice and different type of fish from South America.

After adding another ram, I'd say you'd better go with some of the pygmy corydoras versions.

Yeah, I think I've eliminated tetras now. Cories it is!

Problem is though, what kind? I'm going to a store either tomorrow or Saturday that usually has a good selection of cories. They are fairly pricey though, so I will have to stick with the cheaper ones. I do believe that they have habrosus cories, but I don't know if I want them. They just don't seem cory-ish to me.

I think I can add pretty much any kind of cory I want, because I don't have to worry about overstocking the tank. I dunno what I'll go for, but any suggestions would be nice.
