Fish Warranty | |

From 2 days to 7 days it was half price replacement if water was good. Used to be 24 hours on salts, but now no guarantee whatsoever on them. |

It appeared to have nothing to do with customer satisfaction or fish welfare though, so I'm guessing they only had it because it looked good on the sign. I bought 6 platies from them, divided them into 2 quarantine tanks. Within 8 hours or so two fish were hit with some seriously ferocious whitespot. I called them up to let them know that their tank was infected and ask if they'd replace the fish either with my exchanging live sick ones or dead ones. I would have been fine with a "no, I'm sorry but our guarantee doesn't cover sick fish, just dead ones". It would have been silly, but somewhat understandable. Nope, not their fault. It must've been from my tank as their fish are all fine. ALL tanks have white spot they said, and I must have overstressed the fish so they could attack. My tank water parameters must be incompatible or toxic. No, they won't replace them because they aren't dead. HOWEVER if I'd like to buy some Protozin, they will pay for half of it (which, because they think they are the ants pants would have bought the price of the bottle down to $2 more than what I'd pay at my normal LFS) I had the fish in sterilised quarantine tanks, in a heated room, gently filtered, ample room to hide, and with enough bacteria starter to cycle a tank twice that size. Add to this at that point I'd never had a white spot outbreak at home. I explained this to the man and still no dice. All my fault, they aren't responsible. 2 days later I went back. Guess which tank had white-spotted floaties and a big old NFS across it? Now I should qualify this with saying that this pet shop thinks its the bees knees, so each platy was about 3x what I'd normally pay and I only bought them because I thought I had the security of the guarantee. Ordinarily fighting the fight over 2 platies wouldn't be worth it. The two fish died BTW, and within the 24 hours required. I didn't bother. I sent a detailed letter of complaint instead. I don't trust guarantees. I don't see the point. |
