Packed well and in small numbers, in appropriate-sized bags with O2, and depending on the fish, more than a week. It is also dependant on the species involved, the seasons and weather, the water quality used at packing time, the health of the fish in question, and the handling and storage of the package during transit. Heat packs usually only last for 48 hours though, so you really want to aim for overnight shipping and a tues/wed/thurs arrival time to allow for wriggle room, as courier and shipping companies aren't always able to get things to you on time. Also, avoid ordering at peak times like December/January, as some companies (Fastway for example) work on half staff and only do limited deliveries, so you can end up having your fish in some warehouse until they clear the backlog. |
