They looked like Maggots, and were around the serface of the tank. This was one of my tanks that I left in the care of someone else. Also, Even though I have cleaned the tank, when I try to cycle it or add water to it, I notice that they come back... What are these bugs and how can I rid of them? -inky ![]() ![]() |

They show up when there is alot of detritus left in the tank and are extremely common in small tanks and fry tanks were leftover can build up quickly. Usually regular aquarium maintenance gets rid of them it just may take some time. Otherwise if you have no fish in the tank you can completely break it down and rinse everything 100% in chlorinated tapwater. Will kill any bacteria you have so far but would take care of planaria(along with most any other bug it could be) and any detritus still hanging around in the tank. |
