Don't know what to do. The one we thought was the male is laying eggs on a big rock the other is standing by trying to eat them and actually eating them . WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO please anyone I don't understand?
They were locked at the mouth the other night dancing vertically around the tank now ??

if this is their first time breeding ...... they r most likely to eat the eggs .... wait for them ...... they will breed again and again and eventually get it wright

Thanks CLK they are both fanning the eggs this morning so hopefully they are fertilised and all goes well watch this space for the tears or the joy.

nope... not going to work....the other one which we assumed was the male laid eggs last night...so HELP I need a male red forrest jewel....arrgghhh...

miazma they laid eggs in my tank as well but they were gone by morning i think its eating the eggs cause they dont think they can survive in a tank with other fish.
