From someone who apparently used Rosy Barbs to wipe out hair algae. Apparently, they will eat it, according to this correspondent. Has anyone here encountered similar behaviour? And what other fish species (apart from the usual suspects such as SAEs that we KNOW will eat hair algae) can be added to this list? Just thought I'd drop this in everyone's lap out of interest, especially as quite a few people seem to have hair algae plagues of late ![]() |

American-flag fish, a killi (listed as a Cyprinid in the profiles), will eat hair algae, but males might go after long, flowing fins, too. I read one account that suggested Cherry Barbs might eat it, but doubt they could control an outbreak of it. The link below has a chart near the bottom with all sorts of algae eatin' critters: http://www.fishpondinfo.com/algae.htm |
