I actually told my daughter she could have this tank for her male betta, yesterday we went and bought 3 zebra danios and 3 glowlight tetras. (She DID want to buy one of each fish, I talked her into at least 3 of just 2 types)
Will these fish be ok in just groups of 3? Can I safely add 3 more of each fish to make 2 schools of 6 in a 10 gallon tank? (I have an AC150 filter running on it.)

Yes, definitely better than one, although I don't think you could fit 3 more of each of those fish

You could get three more of one kind, but not both. I would suggest getting 3 more zebra danios because they're a little smaller and are more nippy in smaller groups. And then look into finding a new home for the glolights.

I've never had a zebra danio act nippy . However they are active fish and can get larger then most people seem to believe given the right sized tank and foods. I'd pick one or the other and just go with a school of that.

I'm confused as to if the betta's in the tank with these other fish or not?

I dont think its a good idea to put danios in a tank with bettas. One day you will wake up and poor betta gonna look like it got an haircut.

I'd not personally put danios with bettas..and the tetras are iffy as well. Those long flowing fins are just too tempting.

The danios will most likely start to nip at the betta. The tetras will be ok as glowlights are VERY peaceful tetras. If you want other fish, and would like to go for a good sized school, i would go with 6 glowlights and the betta, and then maybe a few small bottom feeders.

Definintly go for the glowlights, zebra danios do nip. And it wouldn't be safe for the betta. I would go with 4 glowlights and one male betta. And that would be your 10 gallon.

I definitly would not trust the danios with a betta. But, if your daughter has to have both types of fish plus the betta, I'd just add 3 more tetras. The danios actually grow larger than the tetras, by almost an inch if given enough room. So adding more of them would probably be too much for your tank to handle.

I have Danios and a Betta in my 10 gallon tank and have no problems at all. It is one of my favorite tanks that I have. I love watching the danios zoom around and the betta just adds beauty to the mix. But as I said my Danios have never been nippers and they have been together for well over a year

you can defenetly as long as theyre small and active so the betta won't get them or feel like theyre biger than him and he wont bother them.
