i've helped set up a 12G tank for a friend, i gave him some stocking ideas and advise

he decided on 6 black phantom tetras 4 ottos and a dwarf gourami.

the tank is 12G with exturnal filter and heavily planted.
it's been setup for 5 weeks and is home to 6 phantoms and 4 ottos. but is wife know doesn't want a gourami?

what would be a nice central fish.

they like my dwarf cichlid - could they have a pair?

cheers shekoi

I agree with inkling. A German Ram would look great with that setup. A betta may also work with that setup.

Maybe you can add more Black Phantom Tetras & don't add the Dwarf Gourami.

If your Dwarf Cichlid is a Ram, then yes, they can have a pair.

I'd advise stay away from the dwarf gourami anyway. They are just too sensitive to water calamities and parameters spike very easily in such a small tank. Maybe some razzies?

I think that you could do a Pair of Apistogramma anything, or a Male Bolivian Ram, Possibly a pair. I wouldn't do a German Blue Ram or the Gold colour morph in a 12 gallon they are just to sensitive. A female Krabinsis would be fun but a pair would probably be to big. You could do some killi type fish, some of the more exotic ones you could get like male and a female or three if you find a small enough species.
