Standard 55 gallon is 48" x 13" x 20" as indicated on the All-Glass Aquarium site.

No idea what a 55 LONG would be... never heard of it.

I've seen a few used ones but I've no idea what the dimensions actually are. There are a couple on ebay and a few classifieds sites if you want to email the seller and ask if they wouldn't mind measuring their tank. Probably the reason they are uncommon is that a 55 is already plenty narrow and not all that tall(definitely less than 2'). Unless your doing a species tank and have a specific species in mind that would benefit I'd suggest getting a standard 55. It'll be much cheaper and easier to find anyway.

Maybe shadow's version of a 55g. long is just a standard 55g. compared to a 55g. that is more squarish in it's dimensions. I was talking to someone on here that said he had a 55g., but it was at least 10" shorter than mine in length. Mine is 48"long, 12 1/2"wide & 21 "high.

I just did a quick internet search & I what I just said seems to be correct. People are describing a 55g long as being 48" long. The other two dimensions seem to vary by an inch in either direction, as one being an inch higher & another being an inch wider instead. So apparently any tank that is 55g. & is 48" long is considered to be a 55g. long or also a standard 55g.
