I got a (110 litres) 30 gallons tank. I'm a bit new on this hobby so i've put together a group of very diferent fishes.
I got:
3 gourami (1 blue, 2 spoted)
1 ancistrus
2 Pictus Cat-fish
1 Angelfish
2 zebras
2 corydoras
1 clown loach

Now, that i know a bit more about fish and aquariums, I whould like to setup another thank and divide my present fishes for the two and if possible buy some more.

I'm intending to buy a 200 litres tank (something like 60 gallons or so) i whould like to have a pair of angels, some american cichlids and some fishes that liked to swimm together (i think you call it "school".

I was thinking about this two setups and i would like to hear you opinions:

30g aqua: 60g aqua:
2 pictus cat fish 2 angelfish
2 zebra 2 apistogramma (witch one?)
3 gouramis 3 clown loach
1 ancistrus 1 ancistrus
5 serpae tetra
(will they go along
with the cat fish??)
2 corydoras

tell me, please, what do you think about the numbers of eatch species, what species would you change and if there will be any compatibility issues around this populations.

your's Joseph

ps: I know i'm absolutly green on this matters but I really want to learn a lot more.

I'm confused as to what fish are going into which tank but:
a) Neither set-up seems viable as you have too many fish for both.
b) The pictus cats will eat small fish.
c) Clown loach grow huge and prefer to be in groups of more than 3.
d) Corydoras school together and groups of 4 or more are required.

Thanks for clearing it up but unfortunately you still have some decision making to do. Its not my place to tell you what to do but again, just some info for you to have in your mind:
a) 30 or 60gallons is too small for clowns - they need to go back.
b) The pictus will eat the zebra danios and they both need to be in larger groups.
c) Corys need to be in shoals.

Yeah, have six of either the pictus cats or the danios, have six of the corydoras, and leave the clowns off the list. Cool looking as they are, they can grow to about a foot, so are much too big for your tanks.

pictus cats get about a foot, too. I'd say definately get more cories and zebras (there are several different varieties of zebras if the regular ones don't appeal to you). I'd suggest dropping the pictus cats. a)they get huge b)they eat fish (even one that is three inches long can eat a zebra) c)if you already have cories, you don't need more catfish. Tetras should be kept in bigger groups, too.

The most common species of "pictus cat" only grows to about 6" or less. There are other, closely-related species that grow larger (up to 12" or smaller (about 4".
