I have 6 kribs in my 20 gallon in hope they will pair off. But they seem too skitish to take the time to pair, as soon as someone comes in the room they scatter. So I was wondering if putting some more caves in the tank, adding rain water, adding soe neon tetras and covering the tank with a towel for a while? Or should I get more or would that be too uch?

Kribs like lots of caves, rocks, nooks and crannies.

How big are your Kribs?

Can you sex them yet? The Male's anal and dorsal fins will trail back to points that almost come even with the tip of the tail. The female's end abruptly before the start of the tail.

3 pairs in a 20 might be too crowded. I would pick the best male and female and set it up for 1 pair. When They have little ones Kribs get cranky and there are usually so many that the pair and the spawn is about all that would fit in a 20.

Get 1 pair in the tank with plenty of rocks and caves and they'll settle down.

Good luck, Mike

Well, my (now 2x proven) pair.."met" in a local LFS in a 20 gal tall, with at least 4 other kribs, and a young red jewel cichlid...among other fish. But you'd surely want to get rid of the others as SOON as you had a pair. Then, lotsa caves/plants..
BTW..I have my pair in a 20 gal long with 5 Ottos, an African Butterfly fish (had a pair but the male died )..
They have their second spawn now..and a few are left from ther first (successful) spawn.. Their actual FIRST spawn did NOT hatch..
This most current batch is pretty capable of being on their own..in a week probly I'm giving the parents back to LFS ..they are quite prolific
