High Phosphate Levels Yet Again | |
papasan Hobbyist Posts: 72 Kudos: 34 Votes: 0 Registered: 13-Oct-2007 | a few weeks ago i had a black/blue algae problem so i dosed with excel and added a phosphate removal filter additive by JBL so my phosphate levels went from 10 down to 2 with this level i removed the JBL pouch and added a removal additive on my water changes, the last one on Sunday on which my levels were still approx 2, today they have jumped back to 10? and i have noticed some blue hair on my vallis and on the front of my tank glass has anyone any ideas? thanks papasan ><))O> |

I pull a lot of nitrates out of my tap (hazards of drawing off a well in farmland), so I need to plant extra-heavy or stock lightly to get a balanced tank. Edit: Bah, I fail at reading comprehension. You obviously have done a water change. However, I'd still check your tap levels. |

papasan Hobbyist Posts: 72 Kudos: 34 Votes: 0 Registered: 13-Oct-2007 | thanks for your reply Joe, last week my levels were 3 i changed my water on sunday and removed by jbl bag then i treat my new water so no new phosphates should get in from the tap water but 3 days later it is back to 10 and i am getting hair again, any ideas? cheers papasan. |
