Algae eaters will eat certain kinds of algae. Can you take a picture of it? If not, what color is it? Is it in clumps or single strands? Is it only on the gravel? Here is a site on some different types of algae and how to get rid of it. |

LITTLE_FISH ***** Little Fish ***** Master of Something Posts: 7303 Kudos: 1997 Votes: 670 Registered: 20-May-2005 | Guppy gurl, I am only partial in sink with the previous posters (sorry gang). Yes it very important to identify the type of algae, that should be your first task. Getting a fish to eat it is, IMHO, not the proper next step. Instead you should find out WHY you have the algae in the first place. Algae appears if some conditions are not in balance, for example high light, imbalanced nutrients (on planted tanks), inadequate maintenance. Hope this helps, Ingo |
