Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | To be quite honest, none. Considering the potential size of even the smaller varieties, I'd say at least a 50 gallon for the smaller size fancy kinds (bubble eyes, etc.). For normal goldfish (the kind won at fairs, and things like that), an outdoor pond is more appropriate as these fish can grow to be close to two feet in length. Even if goldfish stayed at a reasonable size for a 10 gallon, I still wouldn't recommend them for a tank that small as they are the aquatic equivalents of a wild boar that had recently wallowed in a mud pit. They are messy, messy, messy fish. They pump out such a great amount of ammonia that the necessary bacteria bed required to successfully run through the nitrogen cycle is enormous. Joe Potato |

Two Tanks Big Fish Posts: 449 Kudos: 328 Votes: 13 Registered: 02-Jun-2003 | You could move your three black neons to the ten and add two more (they are schooling and really should be in groups of six or more), then you could add three more guppys to the 20, since they also like to have a few friends (make sure they are all males, however). Molly's can get up to four inches - you might consider taking it back along with the algae eater if it is a Chinese algae eater (they get big and will eventually become agressive. Frankly, you are a little over stocked with what you have in the 20. Except for the molly, (and possibly the algae eater) any of the fish you currently have, would also be fine for a ten. And idea (someone else might have a better one) 20 gallon; 11 neons three guppies 1 or two ottos You might be able to add one male dwarf gourami as a feature fish (they stay small and are compatable with the others fish you have). 10 gallon; six black neon tetras (they get a bit larger than the regular neons) Maybe a otto if there is algae. Or: Twenty gallon; six blk neons three guppies one otto Ten: 11 neons |
