He's been in there for about 4 weeks, and has chosen his hiding places well... There were 2 in the tank at first, but i caught one with the bottle and food trick. Tried to catch the other one with the same trick, but cant.
Any body got some ideas on how to catch this under water Houdini ?

The only time i ever caught mine, i took the major decorations such as drift wood out and then got me and another person with seperate nets to corner him.

the only way I can catch my south american bumblebee catfish is to remove all decoration and plants from the tank, remove the heater and filters and anything he can hide behind, then play tag for 30 minutes or so till i catch the little bugger.

Good advice so far. Take all the decorations out so you have a clean tank to play with. Use larger nets, and try and get green nets (they look like plants to them) with fairly large mesh. Fish have sensory pores on their bodies to detect the minute pressure wave in front of nets when they're pushed around in water, so try and go slow. Making a whirlpool trying to play catch only ruins any plants you have, and will only serve to stress out you and more importantly, your fish.

Go slow, have patience, and try and get them from behind. They're easier to catch if you know how to do it.

If you are reaaly desperate,u could take out all decarations and get a divider cut to the size of your tank out of acrylic. THen slowly herd the fish to one side and scoop in the net

I gotta admit I got really hacked off trying to catch a kuhli loach once, and just sucked him and the gravel he was hiding in up with the gravel cleaner Not as bad as it sounds, I had my thumb over the other end of the tube. Stopped the flow as soon as I sucked him up .

what makes it worse, is that it almost seems that they know you are after them specifically. as i had to chase down a zebra danio the other night and he took off right when i opened the lids.

The double net trick usually locks-up fishy brains a little.
