...would it take for a sponge to get colonized if its brand new and put in a new AC Mini-sized HOB and then put in an already cycled 80 gallon tank with a Fluval 404 and AC200 all filled with sponge (no carbon or other junk) and 6 messy fish (5 3-4" Comets and 1 6" common Plec)?
The reason I ask is cause I have a quarantine tank, and I'm planning on using it for new arrivals in just under 2 weeks (filled with the big tank's water) and I want the filter to be ready for the QT so theres no spikes...

PS Don't rag on me cause of the stock of the 80 gallon, they're going in their own private pond later this summer..
