I have been reading stuff about gouramis.

If I got something like 3 female, and one male, would they keep the agression down, or maby 4 females?

What would be best so they arent agressive and peacefull???

I think im gonna get some gouramis.

I can tell the difference between the male and female:

female - rounded dorsal(??) fin
male - longer pointed dorsal fin

I know that i have a male in my fishtank.

so, will 5 FEMALE gouramis be ok togerther, or will it be a catostriphy?

Not all gouramis can be sexed by the dorsal fin...
What kind of gouramis?

Why aren't you answering peoples' questions(tank size and stocking)? How is anyone supposed to help you if you wont give them information?

opline gouramis

(i did a google, and they used an opline)

No offence to anyone, but i didnt answer their questions because i didnt like the ideas.

I didnt want any tetra-ish fish, so no guppys, i dont really like tiger barbs, but i will do some more research on the rainbows/giant dainos (I never saw the post)

what is this fish:

http://www.elmersaquarium.com/image_fish/01%20cichlid_African_Neolamprologus_tretacephalus.jpg

It looks nice, and i would buy one if i could get info on it.

My LFS has a bunch of rainbows in a 92 gallon corner bowfront display tank, i will look at them and see what kind of personality they have

Keep the suggestions comming!

People really can't suggest anything without knowing how big your tank is and what other fish are in it.

Trets don't belong with anything but other boisterous, aggressive Tang cichlids - they definitely don't belong in a tank that gouramis would seamlessly fit into, even if you're hiding the stocking from us for some reason.

How about a Spiny Eel? Aslong as you get one of the smaller varieties you will be fine and they will get active once they are settled

Spiny Eels can range from 4 inches to 3+ foot. You could fit a 10 inch eel in your tank easily.

I wouldnt attempt to keep than many opaline gouramis. You could personally ask keith, he keeps opalines in a group. He would best reccomend numbers for u.
Also, Opaline Gouramis get very large. I think 5 would be pushing it. They easily reach 6 -7 inches and are very large in overall size.
What kind of tetras do you have that you find they hide all the time?
If you are finding your tetras hide, maybe you should try increasing the number of tetras to 6 or more.
I had 3 pristellas I got given, didnt see them. I added 4 more, and VOILA!!! Pristellas prancing all over the tank. In fact, I like them so much, I am trading my 6 Penguin Fish in for 6 more pristellas this weekend.

What I was saying was go for an 8 inch one not the 3ft ones. I do have a list of all the smaller spiny eels I could find, I will copy and paste it when I find it.

Thanks, i will talk to kieth when he e-mails me back.

Also, i posted this in another thread, but i have upped the numbers of my fish, and they all hide (I had about 6 WCMM's in there, and like 15 cardnial tetras)

they are fine withut my light, but when i turn my light on, they all dart and hide (my room is pretty bright, so its not like their going from pitch black to light)

I will post the link here
