At this point I'm am giving serious consideration on letting a guy I work with have my cichlids and turning the tank(55 gallon) into a more community type tank something my 10 month old daughter will enjoy. It's not that anything is wrong with the cichlids but after having them for so long I think I might like to try something new. Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas on some fish for the tank?

Community tanks are great in fact thats all i have. I like the varity you can get with one all the different plants availble and colors on the fish. I would get a school of tetras a angel and/or gorame a school of cories for the bottom a bristlenose plec for the algea that may form. A male ram and a female ram. Rainbow/ rtbs some people may consider this agressive but mine has never shown to much agression to any fish. And perhaps a school of hatchefish or rainbowfish. The big ? is what do you want in YOUR tank???? good luck and happy fishkeeping!

EDIT: p.s. you may have to change your name.]

are you going to plant the tank?
some cardinals would be great, i'd say about a school of 20
and a smaller school of cories, say around 6
and an angelfish or some assorted livebearers

good luck with the "new" tank

Well I gave away my cichlids today. Right now I just have a commom pleco and 4 giant danios from another tank in it. I'm just looking over several options trying to decide which way to go with it. Haven't really decided on anything definite yet.
Also luckily I do still have a male auratus who resides in another tank so I want have to change my name to "The Artist formally known as Cichlid Keeper"
