I have a 25 gallon tank[30"x13"x15"] that I'd like to keep just one fairly active/aggressive fish. Water is around 74F(without heater) with neutral pH. Any suggestions?

I dont understand the solitary/ aggressive requirement..??

What could reasonably live alone in a 25 gal would either be a blue/ gold gourami or a medium sized SA cichlid- convict/ firemouth/ acara.

All are 4-7 inches. Wouldnt put anything bigger in a 25g.

None are terrible aggressive unless breeding, and then are more territorial than AGGRESSIVE... But will eat neon- guppy sized fish.

IF you want aggressive and active in a 25 gal- I suggest a SCHOOL of 6 - 8 tiger barbs.

Yeah, I've abandoned the solo aggressive fish thought, for the exact reason you stated.

I've kept tiger barbs before, not a big fan, at least not in that small of a tank. All that they did was harass each other and one by one the weakest would die.

As of now, I'm most likely going to get a big school of neon tetras. Since I've actually never kept them before. And maybe keep my one remaining tiger barb, white cloud, and three cories in with them.

Thanks for the response though!

If you have 1 white cloud, 3 cories- Id work around that, and take the tiger barb and donate him to the nearest LFS.

Add 3 more cories, and then get the big school of smaller tetras... neons, rummies, cardinals, whatever....

I think that would make a really get tank, and even better if it was well planted!!!!
