Im trying to do some research on Distichodus (DISTICHODUS SEXFASCIATUS in particular). I like to gather up a bunch of info on every new fish i come across, and the lfs just got 2 of these guys in. Most sites i looked at were either not in english or broken links. I tried fishbase but it wasnt working for some reason. Thanks.

I couldn't find to much consistant information on this species. Most things tend to agree that it will do well on a diet of worms, crustaceans, insects ,plant matter and shrimp. Also they are supposed to be strong jumper so a tight lid is needed. They should not be trusted with plants or fish much smaller than them. They also seem to prefer small schools. Now size is hard to find expect any thing between 1'-2', nothing seemed to agree on that .

I've also read that Distichodus can be aggressive to other fish, which is the main reason I myself haven't gotten a Distichodus myself. They are extreme herbivores and will absolutely destroy plants if kept with them (or so it is said). I don't know about them being a schooling fish, but they can get over 1' in captivity, though I haven't seen anything bigger than that.
