Okay, I was looking at the aquariums at WalMart, (not going to buy anything, but seeing whats new) and I saw that they carried a new fish along with thier Jelly Bean Parrots. It was like a rainbow shark only it was bright pink, blue, green, ect. Are these injected rainbow sharks or are they a diff species?

That sounds just horrible. Why does this dying thing just continue in to more and more fish? Anybody have a picture of this thing? I'm real curious...but something also tells me I don't wanna see.

I couldnt find any images of them, and I don't have the means to photograph them...

People inject them because people like prettier fish. i.e. A big bright pink fish looks much better than a grey one. I think that people should just buy guppies if they want colorful fish....

or bettas....

yeah unfortunatly the walmart here sells "berry tetras" in either strawberry or blueberry... and people think its the darndest thing.... if people stopped buying these fish, they would prolly stop selling them... "supply/demand"

ok so i never really realized this, but how do the fish surving being injected, and isnt that lethal? i mean, crap if you stress your fish adding them to a tank, that can kill them, but stabbing them with needles doesnt?

The fish that arrive at the store are a portion of the fish originally injected. Many die through the process. However, because many tetras cost a few cents at most, the profit exceeds the loss.

Don't buy Dyed fish & always inform others not to buy them aswell. Most Dyed Fish die while being Dyed & it's really a pitty, when fish are so beautiful naturally.
