| Is there such a thing as a 67 gallon tank? | |
fishygirl68![]() Hobbyist Posts: 97 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Jul-2004 ![]() | I called about an ad in the paper this morning, it's for a 100? gallon tank, the lady doesn't know what she's got. She said it's 4' long, 18" wide and 18" tall. According to the calculator on this web site that would put it at about 67 litres. Is there such a thing? The lady doesn't even have it at her house right now, it's at her mother's. She's asking $100 ( Canadian) She has used it for gerbils and turtles. She doesn't know what type of lighting it has with it, but it's an UGF. So I would have to buy an AC for it. Would this be considered a good deal for this tank? It comes with a wrought-iron stand also. |

I think if you calculate a 29 gallon using the calculator here, it will give you about 28.4 gallons or something like that. |

I have one and hagen makes one, I seen it last sunday in a lfs. In your case I would not buy that tank. I doubt that the seal on the tank will be water tight. Silicone can dry out over time when the tank is left dry. Also rodents will chew and pick at the seal. I bought a used 68 gallon that was in storage for 2 years and came with canopy, light, python cleaning kit, 200 watt heater, two AC 300 filter, bunch of plastic plants, three gravel vacs, rocks, gravel, etc for $100. The women I bought it off had it 1/2 full in her driveway it wasn't leaking. I paid $100 for everything. I got it home and full it up all the way and there was a leak. So I am going to fix it or try to sell for a reptile/hamster cage. Becareful of stratches of the glass as well, any stratches, chips or crack are definintely bad. The new hagen 68 gal was $209.67 can. Aqua clear 300 is about 50-60 where I live ( I think aquaclear change the model numbers recently.) Hope this help you openwater. I think you could get a better deal. Plus, if she's been keeping gerbils and stuff she wouldn't know whether it leaks or not, also tanks that are kept dry for long periods of times often have weaknesses in the silicone.
