Daddy wants 2 Mottled Ctenopoma's. The 10GAL is nice, but I have having a devil of time with algae, water quality and having the choice of inhabitants limited. My wife found a nice TropiQuarium 68 for me to play with.

The Malaysian Trumpet Snails only breed to the food source available. At first they will go on a breeding splurt and then the population will start to "balance" itself. They managed to outcompete my Ramshorn in both my 55, 35 and 10GAL tanks!

I've had a weird dye out of all snails in my 10GAL Betta tank. Pretty soon, even the 10GAL Betta tank will be "going to the curb" to be replaced with a 19GAL TropiQuarium! Oh, more room to play in!

Malaysian Trumpet snails though, manage to out compete the regular snails. I am assuming they starved to death.

The smallest Loach I know are Botia Sids.. but even they grow to 4" to 5" a piece and should be purchased in groups of 3.

Dwarf Puffers will not only nip at the fins of the guppies, but will end up eating them as well.

My suggestion: take them out by hand. Snail eggs look like suspended bubbles on plants.

Also, if you want to fight fire with fire. Place some Malaysian Trumpet Snails into your tank. They will not bother your plants, burrow under the substrate and outcompete the regular snails for food sources and eventually, will be the only invert in the tank.

You may not have much luck getting a female betta at Petsmart. I was talking with a Petsmart employee last week, and she said they usually won't carry female bettas as company policy. They're trying to control the pet population and only carry male animals is easy to breed species including bettas and most mammals. I would suggest a non-chain petstore as they may be able to special order one for you- that's how I had to get mine.

not any i can think of for that small of a tank except your hands. If you get a 20 or 29 then you could have a couple of dwarf loaches. YOu may want to try some of those comercial snail ridders. But make sure you don't have any invertabretes that you want or their gone to.

I've never had a snail problem, but I have heard that if you leave a piece of lettuce or zucchini floating on top and leave it there during the night, next morning you will find lots of snails stuck to it. Just remove it and throw it out.

YOur sure the betta will eat them???? I like that better than what i was planning on doing, which was "renting" a clown loach for 1 year then taking it back. Hopefully i can go to petsmart tonight and pick her up Thanks everyone.

I'd go with a female betta or two...

Maybe keep them in another tank together for a while to see if they'll be agressive toward eachother?

My female bettas snack on snails, but I don't know how well they'd work in a tank like that. It's not particularly wise to put a betta in with guppies, as those tails can look an awful lot like a tasty treat.

It's probably more the male bettas you'd have to keep an eye out for, but some females can be just as nasty, as evidenced by my Jezebel over here. She had to be separated from my six other girls, because she tore through them like she was a freaking prize fighter. Her former name was removed from her lovely fins and she is now dubbed Jezebel the betrayer.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

Yes, Dwarf Puffers will nip your Male Guppy's tail. You cannot have Loaches in a 10gal. tank, it's too small. It's better to remove them by hand.

I believe Dwarf Puffer will eat snails. It's small but aggressive.

Most commercial snail remedies do jack squat.
