In my area moonlights aren't as available as pearls so here they're a bit different. I like them both.

Not always easy to find but festivum are interesting. Not the 'typical' cichlid look, and they'd work in your tank.

These two are quite fond of each other (looks like I need some plant maintenance )

How about a Ctenopoma acutirostre, the Spotted Bushfish. A very pretty and somewhat rare find (at least around here). Should fit well with the angel's temperment.

I see Clown Knife fish all the time in my local fish store for $39.95 Canadian. I wonder why it is illegal to keep one there? I dont know if they would even survive in the wild if they got loose.

What about a clown knife fish?
They easily adapt to just about any water conditions, they are an awesome looking fish, howwever they grow quite large and can get quite aggressive but usually they are alright with fish their size and bigger....If u get a smaller one chances are it will be fine with ur fish when it gets bigger. I dunno how much they go for over there but over here, there illegal and to get 1 costs about $650 aussie dollars hehe

That's a laugh. I commonly see aquarists show photos of their gars in the one foot range! 6" ones are like the babies you find at stores.

Hi all, I just finished cycling my 55 gallon and so far there are 3 angels and a ram in there. Is there any cool looking, unique fish, that would be compatible? Im looking for something out of the ordinary, something that will really turn heads. Any ideas?
thanks!

How about a South American leaf fish? They are very docile and easily tamed (can even be hand fed), and are very unique. The one we have at the store hangs out right in the middle of his tank, and people are always commenting about how cool he is.

The only drawback I can think of is that they require live fish to eat.

What about a long nosed Gar? They sure turn my head every time I see them in Stores.

Bad idea. Let's ignore the fact that they get a few feet long and go with the fact that they probably aren't that compatible with fish that they can eat, which the rams would become after a period of time.:%)

The Black Ghost isn't that wise either, as the 55 gallon will only work temporarily.

There are many kinds of head turning catfish as well, synos, pictus, etc.

elephant nose and baby whales used to be common around here, but not anymore (their mortality rate was said to be rather high). african brown knifefish are really cool- well behaved, incredible swimming motions- but mine is really nocturnal.

Frankly, my butterfly fish doesn't do much in my 55 gal tank other than hangs out at the top - and is barely visible... I know that others have written that butterfly fish are aggressive - so mine must be the exception to the rule! He "runs" from all other fish - when I open the lid to feed - etc. The only time we really have seem him go lower than the very surface of the water is when we're cleaning the tank!!!! But then again, since there is only one --- could be it would be quite different if he had mates of his own kind...
Actually, I'm kind of surprised that you don't consider your Angels the "show piece"... I have a pair in my 55 gal tank - and they definitely are the "super stars"... They are the first thing you notice when you gaze upon the tank!
