Im moving my 6 foot fish tank in a few weeks about 200kms to a new house i am a little worried about all this.

Has anyone moved a fish tank of this size and what was it like. Any advice or tips would be great. i have a few mates to help me out on the day just anything i can find out b4 the move would be great.

i have never moved a tank of that size, but a have moved a couple of smaller tanks at the same time. 3ft (40g) and a small 10g.

i carried the fish in tank water inside boxes from lfs, the ones they transport fish in. these keep the water warm.
i then put all the gravel into buckets with water to keep as much of the bacteria alive. i also removed all the filter material and soaked then in buckets of tank water.

becasue of the distance might be good to see if you can get hold of a battery powered heater and filter for the fish.

once setting up the tank use as much of the one water as possible and make sure the temperatures are right then slowly introduce the fish and any new water.

What kind of fish are we talking about here? Realistically, you aren't going to be moving a mbu puffer in a rubbermaid box.
