I have 3 fish which I cannot account for anywhere in my 20 gal. One neon tetra and two Otos.

Now it is entirely possible my Otos are hiding inside either the "auto" ornament or one of the plants and they just hung on when I moved them around while cleaning but the neon is no where to be found.

I searched the plants, around inside and outside the tank (though I don't think they are known jumpers) as well as the filter. No where. There's been no spike in the ammonia.

My assumption is that he passed on to the great lake in the sky and his tank mates took care of his remains (do platys and neons do this ?) but wouldn't I find something to confirm this theory (a fin, a bone ..) ?

Both fish, in my experience, have that VERY odd skill of suddenly disspearing. Then coming back, disapearing again, and so on and so forth.

Give it a day or two, they may reappear or something.

Otto's are especially talented at disappearring for awhile. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Take a look around all your decorations to see if there's a body hanging around. If you don't see anything, then they're just fooling you into thinking they're not there anymore...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

It does happen, it happens in my 10 gal, with my neons, and it use to happen in my 110 gal. with a bunch of fish, some just have that ability to find that one good spot, that'll have you lookin for days...then they just pop up!
