I am moving in 3 weeks, only about 30 minutes from where I live now. I can't figure out if I should move my fish in large buckets or in bags or in small containers.
The fish are: 3 kuhli loaches
2 yoyo loaches
6 black neons
1 golden gourami
6 SAE
1 CAE
1 bristlenose pleco
1 male betta
1 dwarf frog

These are in two tanks. I figure it should take me about 2 or three hours tops to get the tanks up again. I am afraid of the buckets because of sloshing around when I am driving. Also I may have to make 2 trips if I use buckets because I have a small car. Will they run out of air in bags though?

I would appreciate any help!
Thanks,
Lauren

I would go with buckets, but they must have lids. You must find something that closes well, so you wouldn't spill any water.

The times I moved, I used medium sized coolers to transport the fish. I think the advantages are:

1) Helps to prevent rapid changes in temperature
2) I think that being in darkness is less stressful

Get a cooler (or 2) that will hold 10-15 gallons and make sure they are clean. Throw a few of your plants in for the little guys to feel safe and you should be okay. That's always worked for me with no deaths.

Good luck!!

Hey wish-ga. Do you refer to coolers as esky in your area, or are you just referring to the brand name.

Just curious.
