1. No.
2. Land, and some salt in the water.

Mudskippers are some of my favorite fish. I recently purchased a new girl for my 55 gallon paludarium. She's living alone for now, but if the LFS gets some more girls I'll pick them up, and maybe a guy.:%)

Mudskippers are really cool, but obviously you've got to keep the tank covered. This keeps them from getting out, but also it keeps the atmosphere inside the tank humid, as these fish, of course, spend much of their amphibious life on land. I've had mixed experiences with them getting to eat dry foods; sometimes they accepted them quicky, sometimes they took some time. The thing is that you have to watch out with the males; they'll fight, and you don't want that. Males will have some lengthened dorsal fin rays for displaying to each other, so that's how you tell.

Mudskippers are usually pretty hardy, but they do have some special needs. Firstly, they need to be kept in brackish water. Also, they need a tank with a tight lid, because they're escape artists. They also need an area where they can get out of the water and sit around, because that's what they like to do.

Some information about this fish can be found in these places:

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
