So I walked in one of my LFS yesterday and was surprised. They actually had a brackish tank set up. I of course immediately investigated and found a disturbing scene. It was probably a 40H tank and in it were two Monos and a lone figure 8 puffer. While checking him out, I noticed that he was missing his dorsal fin completely and most of his other fins were chewed pretty badly.

I immediately struck up a conversation with one of the employees and was able to convince them to give him to me for 30% less. So, I brought him home and he is now receiving a full treatment of Melafix to help with his fin repair. He seems really healthy otherwise, he is very active, his eyes are bright and there are no unusual markings on his skin.

Here are three pics of him
Edit: I decided to give him his own page for pics

I was playing with my camera and managed to get a good shot of the damage to his dorsal fin. You can see it's been chewed basically to a stump.

Damaged fin

Just an update for everyone here, the stress of the move and fin repair caused a severe bacterial infection. Sadly, he didn't make it.

oh no, sorry to hear. At least you tried to help him and gave him a good last few days, if he was at the store he would have died much sooner and not even had the chance you gave him to live
