Noticed yesterday that there seemed to be a neon tetra missing - Didnt think to much of it as I thought it was hiding in plants but keeping an eye out just in case.

Today saw my zebra danios attacking a neon - My god it happend so quick. One started then they all went for it. As quick as I could I rescued it but alas it was too late...

So guessing the missing neon is infact gone for good.

Have rescued the remaining 4 neons who are looking very happy in there slighty smaller but much much safer tank.

So ]:| to my evil danios.

Awwww... I'm sorry to hear that. A couple weeks ago I bought some long-finned blue danios and I'm starting to notice that they are picking on my adolescent guppies. ]:|
I'm begining to wonder if they were a good idea. I like to watch them swim and they are very pretty but they are turning out to not be as peaceful as the lfs told me...

Long-finned danios actually have quite a history of being rather hostile and aren't recommended very often for tanks with smaller species in them.

As for the zebras being aggressive, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think I've heard many stories of them being aggressive, maybe one or two, but it seems to be a rarity to me. Maybe you just got stuck with a fairly aggressive school of them...Sounds like your tetra school was initially filled out correctly, how many danios do you have Alfie? Maybe if there are considerably more danios than there were neons or if the school of danios is too small, maybe either of those could be reasons for their sudden aggression...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

More Danios to neons which was probably the problem. The danios started off very peaceful but just seemed to get more playful as they got used to the tank.I say playful thats what it seemed like.
Either way the neons are safe now and the danios are going to be going in my new tank when its set up so the neons can go back home.
